Application and Admission Process

Admission to the He Ain’t Heavy Pretrial Diversion Program shall be by appointment only. Contact  either the Coweta or Griffin Judicial Circuit Pretrial Diversion Program for applications and appointments.  The completed Pretrial Diversion Program application must be emailed via United States located on the  HE AIN’T HEAVY WEBSITE.

Eligible juvenile or adult defendants in Coweta and Fayette Counties have priority of admission to the program. It is the intent to expand the program to other counties across the Judicial Circuits.

A committee will review the facts of the case and the application of the juvenile or adult defendant.  A tentative initial determination will be made concerning the juvenile or adult defendant’s eligibility to participate in the program. If the assigned committee determines that the juvenile or adult defendant is ineligible for the program, or otherwise rejects the application of the juvenile or adult defendant, the courts will be notified.

A meeting will then be scheduled between the committee and the tentatively accepted juvenile or adult defendant.  At this meeting, the program rules and specific terms and conditions of the Pretrial Diversion Program and the accompanying waivers will be explained, and any questions concerning the participation of the juvenile or adult defendant in the program will be answered. At the conclusion of this meeting, the committee will make a final determination of the acceptance of the juvenile or adult defendant into the program. The courts will be notified of the outcome of all applications.
